Queen of Night and Pamina
Size: 25" x 27"
In this piece, the fifth and last large tapestry in the set, the Queen of the Night is now aggressive, powerful, militant. She is standing on a moon-faced dragon creature, facing her daughter Pamina, who is on a kind of sun-faced angel. The Queen is handing her a dagger with which to kill Sarastro. This is a very theatrical scene in the opera in which the Queen delivers her most powerful aria, full of hate and vengeance. —P.C.
