Already Eve, reaching for the apple, was a kind of homage to the tree. Knowledge is fun and she wanted some of it. The tree has often been the center of festive celebrations. The Romans decorated their trees to celebrate the winter festival, as we do with our Christmas trees. This piece is my homage to the joy the tree provides us. —P.C.
